Kelly Clarkson Fox TV’nin “American Idol: The Search for a Superstar 2002” isimli seçmelerine katılıp, bir anda Amerika’nın en çok konuşulan isimleri arasına girdi. 20 yaşındaki Clarkson, American Idol yarışmasına katılmadan önce bir komedi kulübünde garsonluk yapıyordu.
American Idol yarışması için hazırladığı “Respect”, “Natural Woman”, “Stuff Like That There” ve “Without You” parçaları sayesinde iki finalist arasına girdi. Final için hazırladığı “A Moment Like This” ve “Before Your Love” şarkıları kendisine birinciliği kazandırdı. Yarışma ödülü olan 1 milyon dolar ve RCA ile anlaşma dışında, ‘Creative Artists Agency’ ile de anlaştı.
Clarkson, yeni kazandığı şöhretine rağmen, diğer sanatçılar gibi New York veya Los Angeles’a taşınmak yerine Texas’ta kalmayı tercih etti. American Idol’ı kazandıktan 2 hafta sonra çıkan single’ı “A Moment Like This”, platin plak aldı. Clarkson’ın ilk albümü olan “Thankful”, 2003 ilkbaharında piyasaya sürüldü. 2004’te çıkan ikinci albümü “Breakaway” ise 5 milyondan fazla satarak 2005’in en fazla satan üçüncü albümü oldu. Bu albümden “Because of You”, “Behind These Hazel Eyes” ve “Since You’ve Been Gone” parçaları çok ünlü oldu.
2006’da “Since You’ve Been Gone” ve “Breakaway” albümü, sırasıyla “En İyi Kadın Pop Vokal Performansı” ve “En İyi Pop Vokal Albümü” Grammy Ödüllerini aldı.
2006 yılında radyolarda en fazla çalınan şarkıcı olan Kelly, 3 Şubat 2007’de Londra Wembley Arena’daki ilk büyük konserini verdi.
25 Haziran 2007 tarihinde “My December” adlı 3. albümünü yayımlayan Kelly Clarkson, albümün prodüksiyonunda David Kahne ile biraraya geldi. her to sing it again. I recorded her and placed the video on YouTube for
family and friends to see. Little did I know that so many would email and
say what a beautiful and powerful voice she has," stated Danielle's mother,
Renae.
Danielle's goal is to audition for American Idol one day and go on to a
career in music.

Reba McEntire achieves career milestones with her 31st studio album Reba Duets, which debuted last week with unprecedented sales of more than 300,000 landing her in the top spot on The Billboard 200 chart. This marks the first time McEntire has ever reached the # spot on The Billboard 200 (closest was #2 with Read My Mind in 1994) and is her biggest first week album sales to date.
McEntire's prior top first week sales number was 124,000 with It's Your Call in 1992. Reba Duets surpassed this by 176,000.
"I am beyond thrilled to have my biggest sales week ever with my 31st album," exclaimed McEntire. "To get to share it with all my friends (including Kelly Clarkson) on this duets project is icing on the cake!"

CLARKSON TALKS ABOUT HER WEIGHT, HER NEW ALBUM, AND HER SHOWDOWN WITH CLIVE DAVIS IN ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY’S SUMMER MUSIC PREVIEW
New York, NY – As she readies for the release of her third, very personal CD, America ’s original Idol Kelly Clarkson makes it onto the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly Summer Music Preview. The songstress offers EW an advance listen of her new album, My December, and opens up about her struggle to be taken seriously as a songwriter. “The whole album is a story of the past two years, all the highs and lows,” Clarkson explains. “It deals with so many situations, whether it’s family, friends, relationships, or myself.”
After the huge success of her first album (Breakaway sold 10 million copies, earning Clarkson two Grammy awards and crowning her the queen of pop radio), it was surprising that she decided not to reunite with any of the producers who helped craft that record’s five ultra-catchy top 20 singles. Insiders say that MB Label Group’s chairman, Clive Davis, sat on My December for four months, hoping she’d change her mind. “The pressure they put on this young woman to compromise herself and do another version of the same record, I’ve never witnessed in my career,” says her manager Jeff Kwatinetz.
The tussle between Clarkson and Davis has turned into the most high-profile pop-music showdown of the year. One person who knows both sides of the battle: Simon Cowell, who judged Clarkson on American Idol and works for Sony BMG, the parent company of Clarkson ' s label, RCA. He ' s heard My December and tells EW: "Kelly is not a puppet; she does not like to be told what to do. She made it absolutely clear that she wanted to steer the musical direction on this record. You just gotta say, ' You know what? This girl has given us millions and millions of sales. ' You’ve got to give her that opportunity. She ' s not a girl who got lucky in a talent competition; we got lucky to find her."
Says Clarkson of the 14 ultra-personal tracks on My December: "The label was like, ' It ' s just too negative. ' I ' m like, ' Well, I ' m sorry I ' ve inconvenienced you with my life. ' No, it doesn ' t say, ' I ' m happy, I ' m with a boy and having so much fun. ' But it ' s reality. We all go through situations for certain reasons, and I think we should share that."
The media has also been taking notice of Clarkson’s weight (After her performance on the Idol Gives Back charity show last month, one message boarder dubbed her “Mama Cass.”) She, however, is comfortable with herself. “You’re just like, Oh, well, that sucks. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t suck that much or else I’d do something about it. I work out when I want to work out; I don’t work out when I don’t want to work out. After a long day and I’m tired, yeah, a cookie helps. It makes me feel good. It’s soul food! There’s a reason why it’s called that. I drop, like, 15 pounds when I’m on tour.”
